Concluding an Expository Essay – Guide

I never thought writing essays was that difficult. I have always been good at writing but then reality hit me quite hard. I asked peers and teachers to review my essays and I came across the blunders that I made in writing my essays.

I included irrelevant details in my essay writing service that made my essay quite incoherent and unorganized. I started making an outline before I would sit down to write my essay. This helped me a great deal but I still paid less attention to writing conclusions. I would just add some random lines, usually based on my opinions and recommendations, and think of it as a conclusion.

Concluding an expository essay is not as easy as it seems to be. Most of the time students end up introducing new points in their conclusion, deviate from their thesis, and add their own comments in the conclusion.

Following is a guideline to concluding an expository essay that I learned the hard way. I hope it proves to be a great assignment help for all the students out there. It would help you write a conclusion that would add to the quality of your expository essay.

  1. Restate your thesis statement.

The first statement of your concluding paragraph should be a version of your thesis statement. You do not have to use the exact words that you used in your thesis statement but you must make sure to restate your thesis statement. This lays stress on the main idea of your expository essay. A thesis statement is a one-liner outline of your essay. This one statement is perfect to provide an overview of your whole essay in the conclusion of your expository essay.

  1. Provide the gist of your essay.

We write the conclusion, to sum up, the ideas discussed in one paragraph. Thus the conclusion should not include any new ideas or information that is not relevant to your thesis statement. An idea, no matter how relevant to your topic, should never be introduced in the conclusion paragraph. The conclusion is meant to provide a gist of the whole essay so must include what you have already stated in your essay. An easier way to sum up your ideas is to provide an elaboration of the subtopics you have discussed in your essay. As you have already stated the main idea in the first statement would depict the pattern of your expository essay.

  1. State some strengthening points.

Once you have stated the main idea of your expository essay you must also provide an example or evidence from the essay that provides strength to your main idea. This should support your main idea as a whole and not just one segment of your thesis. This could be an example that you have used in your essay or a piece of supporting information. As you have tried to explain a topic or event in your Expository Essay these supporting statements stress your main point and help the reader recall the details from your essay. Also, these supporting sentences help a reader grasp a wholesome idea of your essay when your conclusion is read separately from the rest of your essay.

  1. Finish with a compelling statement.

The last statement of your concluding paragraph is as important as the first statement of your conclusion. You have to finish with a clarion call that is directly related to your thesis statement. You do not have to make any recommendation in the concluding section of your college essay writing service unless you are asked to do so. If you have raised a rhetorical question during your expository essay, this is where you can answer that question and stress your point.
